F/A-18 Hornet Stars and Stripes
limited 3500
The ease with which the Hornet can be converted from fighter to strike mode and
back again makes it the most versatile jet in the U.S. Navy arsenal. In
Operation Desert Storm in 1991, the Hornet routinely performed both fighter and
strike missions on the same sortie! Matching an actual Hornet detail for detail,
this spectacular 1:48 scale model strikes a patriotic note with its inspiring
red-white-and-blue paint scheme.

F/A-18 HORNET US NAVY "EAGLE
NOSEART" CHIPPY HO!
- U.S. Navy VFA-195, "Chippy Ho!" F-18 Hornet piloted
by Capt. Harvey McDonald (H.Mac)
"This model represents an F/A-18C Hornet of
VFA-195 the "Dambusters". The squadron served aboard USS Independence, CV 62,
for most of the 90's until Indy was decommissioned in September 1998 and they
transferred to the Kitty Hawk, CV 63. The squadron's tactical call sign is
"Chippy", hence the scheme "Chippy Ho!" on their CAG bird. This scheme first
appeared on a squadron airplane in early 1995. Before decommissioning, Indy was
forward deployed and home-ported in Yokosuka, Japan." |
