2005 Ford Mustang GT Limited Edition 5000 |
|
|
|
The Mustang legend lives! Harness the power
of this all-new performance-built thoroughbred with a
sizzling scale replica of the first mainstream Mustang to
break into the 300 hp arena. Exact in every detail, right
down to the legendary badge and tri-bar tail lamps. The
legacy of Mustang continues. Marvel at the precisely
detailed engine and fully loaded interior.
Ford Motor Company had ambitious plans for the 2005 model
year. This year the company launched its broadest lineup of
new cars in decades and perhaps even more significantly, its
new Mustang. Americans had been in love with the Mustang for
41 years now and the retro version Mustang was eagerly
awaited. Although almost all new, the styling was a reprise
of the original short deck-long hood combination that
started the Pony Car craze of the mid 'sixties. Here was the
bodyside scoop, from the '65, the dashboard reminiscent of
the 1967, the greenhouse shape from the 1968, and the nose
from 1969. In short, the objective was to "...bring back
everything that was right about the best Mustangs..." as
stated by J Mays, Ford's Group Vice President of Design.
The rear-quarter glass was a retro cue that also satisfied a
modern functional necessity. The original single side window
of the 1967-68 fastbacks looked snazzy but created a long,
solid sail panel that shut out light to the rear seat and
blocked driver vision. The triangular windows on the 2005
solved those problems while recalling the design of the
iconic '66 Shelby® GT 350. Underneath, the new Mustang had
its own platform, for the first time not sharing one with an
existing Ford product.
The new S197, a purpose-built muscle car chassis, was new
from the ground up. 2005 also introduced a redesigned
suspension, revised power train, state of the art ergonomics
and modern safety features. Now it can truly be said that
the legacy of the Mustang will continue into the next
century. Franklin Mint Precision Models is proud to present
the 2005 Ford Mustang GT, an authentic, fully detailed
die-cast model.

1946 Chevrolet® Suburban Sheriff's Wagon Limited Edition
2500 |
|
|
|
When it came to getting the bad guys behind
bars, no vehicle out-performed the 1946 Chevy® Suburban™
Sheriff's Wagon. Your replica comes complete with a range of
state-of-the-art details, from wire mesh protective barrier
to the two-way radio under the dash. The hold features two
prisoner benches and a trusty wire mesh barrier to shield
officers from harm. Don't miss the incredible interior
details, including the two-way radio.
World War II was the direct impetus for
an explosion of research in many fields of industry and
science, and not the least in the field of automotive
technology. This five-year period witnessed improvements
gained from the experience of military truck development and
engineering and intense research in materials. In addition,
Chevrolet® trucks were tested on the largest proving ground
in the world, the highways of America - transporting war
goods to support our troops in Europe and the Pacific. So
when the hostilities were over, it should be no surprise
that these discoveries and innovations were applied to the
building of civilian vehicles.
For Chevrolet®, trucks produced in 1946 were refined in
terms of efficiency and reliability. These are two
qualifications meant a great deal, certainly to the car
buying public, but especially to officers of the law.
Sheriff's departments in post-war America were responsible
for transporting newly arrested people to jail, or to court
from the prison. This was a duty requiring the strongest of
security measures and the 1946 Chevrolet® Suburban™
Sheriff's Wagon was more than ready to take on all these
weighty duties. What better vehicle to ensure smooth
operation of transport while providing reliable operation
than the Suburban, with its 1/2 ton rating, enclosed cargo
bay and trusty 90 hp engine. The driver, separated from the
rear area by a wire mesh screen has the latest in
communications technology in a two way radio under the
dashboard. Prisoners are securely accommodated with two
benches in the hold. The Chevrolet® Suburban™ Sheriff's
Wagon is state-of-the-art law enforcement equipment for
1946.
Now you can acquire this incomparable
model, the ultimate re-creation of the 1946 Chevrolet®
Suburban™ Sheriff's Wagon, an example of fine detail and
authenticity from Franklin Mint Precision Models.

1932 Ford Deuce Coupe "Rockin' Rod" Limied Edition 2500 |
|
|
|
Take a trip back to the '80s and the days
of "Big Hair" bands in sprayed-on spandex, hard-driving rock
and, quite naturally, hot cars. This "bangin'" scale model
of the Deuce Coupe puts a classic '80s spin on the perennial
heartthrob of custom rodders everywhere. Chopped-down,
souped-up, it's ready to roar into your collection with
custom hood-scoop, fully detailed engine, even a lifelike
replica of a monster sound system with super amp and giant
speakers in the trunk. Order now for the perfect tribute to
the age when rodders and rockers ruled!
HOT ROD. The mere name is synonymous with rebellion. An
American innovation, the hot rod first roared shortly after
WWII, as many returning servicemen strove to recapture
battlefield excitement behind the wheels of "hotted-up"
autos that they raced wherever the ground was flat and the
pulse rate high.
This All-American subculture came of age in the 1950s when
the great hot rodders elevated the 1932 Ford to mythic
status as the ultimate rod. Why '32 Fords? For one thing,
they were plentiful; for another, the old Ford embodied
everything formal, proper and established in American
culture. Transforming one of these icons from the '30s sent
a message to onlookers that the guy at the wheel was NOT
about to uphold the traditions of the past.
Was it an accident that the custom rod craze reached
fruition in the same decade that a rebellion of another sort
took hold among the youth of America? As the nation entered
the rock era, the hot rod - especially the '32 Deuce Coupe -
seemed the perfect match for the new, hard-driving and
rebellious music that flooded the radio and the music
stores. And since the day the first rocker turned up the
amps on his electric guitar down to the present, the road
rod proved an ever-inspiring muse in countless recordings,
not to mention motion pictures that lionized these
chopped-down, souped-up classics.
Your precision-engineered model of the 1932 Ford Deuce Coupe
Rockin' Rod celebrates an era frequently overlooked in the
history of rodding - the 1980s. That decade saw the
blossoming of a new genre known as the Music Video, belting
out heavy metal beats that became the sound track for a new
generation of rodders. Your model embodies the spirit of a
memorable age when rock and rodders ruled.

1966 Shelby Cobra Stars and Stripes 427 s/c 1:24 Limited
Edition 9500 |
|
|
|
Stars, Stripes and Shelby™ Forever!
Take the symbol of the greatest nation on earth, combine it
with a masterpiece of American know-how, and what do you
have? The red-white-and-blue edition of the awesome Shelby®
Cobra 427 S/C™! As a die-cast model, it doesn't get any
better - 150 separate parts, fitted by hand in one
sensational whole - packed with authentic detail and
accurate down to the 500hp engine under the hood. As a
display statement, it couldn't be more inspiring with its
flag-waving paint scheme.
For the true roadster aficionado, nothing has ever been
built to compare to the Cobra. To this day, the Shelby®
Cobra stands out. This limited-production sports car
deserves its designation as an automotive classic because it
demands your full attention. It looks great; it sounds mean;
and it drives like a demon. In fact, it may well be the most
powerful, the most attractive, and the most thrilling front
engine roadster ever manufactured for sale to the public.
The Shelby® Cobra was born in a flash of insight, became
cloaked in clouds of controversy, and remains enshrouded in
layers of mystery. Cobra production began in 1962 and ended
in 1967. At first, this thinly disguised road racer featured
a 260 V-8 engine (soon expanded to a 289 V-8) inside its
sleek European-style body. Shelby® produced 630 such models.
Then, in 1965, this beautiful beast got even more power when
the 427 cid V-8 racing engine was added. At some point in
production, the 427 was replaced with the 428 Police
Interceptor engine: 348 were 427s and 26 of these were
designated S/C™ for street competition. The S/C™ was the
ultimate Cobra.
Carroll Shelby's Cobra 427 S/C™ was not just fast, it was
mega-fast. It moved like a cannon shot and answered
virtually every demand a driver could make. The Cobra's
lightning speed, blazing power, superior handling, and
stunning good looks assure its place in history. Today, this
rare roadster is in great demand by collectors.

One of the hottest automobiles of all time
just got hotter! And now you can feel the heat of the King
of Cobras--Carroll Shelby's® Cobra 427 S/C® re-created in
the preferred 1:24 scale. We've captured the original 427
S/C® down to the smallest detail of the powerful OHV V-8
engine.
Adorning the hood, two fang-bearing King Cobras emerge
fiercely from a nest of flames. Set in the middle of the two
snakes, the world-famous Cobra® emblem--symbol of power,
speed and flat-out sex appeal. The trunk is artfully
rendered to resemble the scaled, multi-colored surface of
snake hide, thereby completing an inspired rendering that
dramatically enhances the mystique of one of the world's
most awesome automobiles.
Simply put: The Shelby Cobra 427 S/C® defied convention.
When introduced in the early 1960s, it roared into
automotive history as quite possibly the most provocative
front-engine roadster ever built. By the middle of the
decade, the Cobra®'s beauty-to-brawn ratio increased
dramatically with the addition of the blatantly potent 427
cid V-8 racing engine.
Of the 348 Cobra 427s produced in 1965, only 31 carried the
S/C (Street Competition) designation. Its rarity, combined
with its devilish good looks, made the 427® a certified
legend--a siren that continues to cast her irresistible
spell over Muscle Car enthusiasts to this day.
This sizzling, precision-engineered re-creation evokes the
fiery spirit of Carroll Shelby®'s masterpiece as never
before, and is sure to add a bright, distinctive look to
your collection.

Corvette Z06 GCA
1:24 Limited Edition 2008 |
|
|
|
The only thing better than owning a Vette®? How 'bout having
one that doesn't look like the other guy’s. One that will
turn heads and have lookers straining to catch another
glimpse. That's the concept behind the GM® Genuine Corvette®
Accessories (GCA) program--offering a tricked-out custom
look with factory accessories that are perfectly integrated
to give each Vette its own identity.
This torrid precision model re-creates an '08 Z06™, accurate
down to every detail of the powerful LS7 engine, detailed
undercarriage and fully appointed interior. GCA
personalization includes custom silver-and-victory-red
stripe hood treatment, competition gray wheels, metal grille
screens and special engine décor.
The engineering excellence of the C6 Corvette® Z06™ is a
direct result of racing victories of the Corvette® C5-R that
won every race in the 2004 season--the most successful
string of wins in the 50-year racing history of Corvette®.
In 2008, the Z06™ maintained 505 horsepower and delivered a
0-60 time of less than 4 seconds. Responsible for this was
the LS7 engine, first introduced in 2006 with the largest
displacement small block ever produced by GM. Inside, the
lightweight components, including titanium, assist in
getting the power to the pavement without adding excessive
weight.
The body, too, has a unique aluminum structure for optimum
rigidity and light weight for the fixed-roof style. A wide
front with forward-facing grille opening and splitter along
the sides provides aerodynamic down-force. In fact, the
aerodynamics of the Z06™'s shape was specifically derived
from the CR-5 racing program. In the cockpit, the gauge
cluster displays the Z06™ logo and the new three-spoke
steering wheel has a smaller diameter, providing better
handling and "road feel."
Now, this ultra high-performance icon has been faithfully
reproduced as a die-cast model with every detail intact and
GCA personalized in black and silver with competition gray
wheels, real metal grille screens around and special engine
decor. The 2008 GCA Corvette® Z06™ would be the flagship in
any serious Corvette® enthusiast’s model collection.

1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 1:24 Limited Edition 2500 |
|
|
|
Say "hello" to the Boss of Bosses. Built for the track, the
Boss 429 was born to tear up the streets. And with its
whopping 429 V-8 engine, that's exactly what it did. Now,
it's set to do the same to your collection. This
precision-engineered replica has it all: distinctive grille
and hood scoop, detailed undercarriage, fully instrumented
dash, and the full monty of working features--doors that
open and close, functional suspension, and steering and road
wheels that turn. Big, bad, beautiful--Boss!
It was the king of the big blocks--The 1970 Ford Mustang
Boss 429. The monster engine was originally designed for the
racing circuits. Ford Motor Company first produced the car
in 1969, each car being hand-assembled. From January through
July 1969, a total of just 859 were produced. In 1970, you
could have taken delivery of a brand-new 1970 Boss 429 for
under $6,000. Today, the sky's the limit for these coveted
and rare beauties. It's no wonder this car was assembled
with such great pride by the people producing it--and who
must have realized they were producing a run of exotic,
sequentially numbered Fords that would one day become a
great American classic.
Your Franklin Mint Precision Models 1970 Ford Mustang Boss
429 Limited Edition is the ultimate re-creation of this
ultimate factory street machine--one that you'll be more
than proud to own and display.

1968 Mustang GT-Steve McQueen Bullitt 1:24 Limited
Edition 6800 |
|
|
|
|
It all begins with the click of a seat
belt.... What follows is the greatest car chase ever
filmed-- nine minutes of fender-crunching, brake-screaming
excitement as Detective Frank Bullitt peels out at the wheel
of his '68 Mustang GT in pursuit of two mobsters through the
streets of San Francisco.
It's been 40 years since STEVE MCQUEEN first took us on the
ride of our lives. Now, you can recapture the white-knuckle
excitement as never before with the definitive precision
model of the '68 Mustang McQueen drove in the movie BULLITT.
Every detail is captured to perfection - and ours is the
only model to bear the authorized signature mark of STEVE
MCQUEEN.
Seen on the big screen or even on TV, the chase sequence
from the Steve McQueen classic Bullitt takes viewers on the
most awesome ride of their lives, leaving some exhilarated,
some exhausted--all aware that they have just witnessed the
greatest car chase in motion picture history.
Of equal significance, the film, and that pivotal scene,
established McQueen as the undisputed King of Cool--the
hero, or anti-hero, whose persona embodied the restlessness
and rebellion that characterized the turbulent 1960s.
McQueen himself was the force behind the most talked-about
scene in Bullitt. From Day One, he was determined to shoot
the best car chase ever. To that end, the finest stunt
coordinators and drivers in the motion picture industry were
summoned to San Francisco to "choreograph" and perform what
would unfold as a nine-plus-minute turbo-charged ballet,
much of it airborne, to the accompaniment of squealing
brakes, growling exhausts and the grating shifting of gears.
The entire sequence took three weeks to film, with McQueen
himself actually behind the wheel through much of the chase.
Unlike classic film chases of the past, traditionally filmed
at slow speeds and then sped up by the editor, there were no
special effects employed in the Bullitt chase sequence. What
you get is what you see. The cars were shot at real-time
speeds, frequently clocked at 124mph!
From beginning to end--from the instant the villain clicks
his seatbelt to the climactic moment when the airborne
Charger crashes into the service station--every second
contributes to the overall excitement of what has by now
become the gold standard of all chase scenes--the one
against which all others will always be measured.
It is with great pride that Franklin Mint Precision Models
brings you the definitive die-cast replica of the 1968
Mustang GT driven by Ste ve McQueen in the classic chase
scene from Bullitt. Issued on the 40th Anniversary of the
motion picture, and bearing Steve McQueen's signature on the
trunk lid, it is the ultimate precision model of the
automotive icon that thrilled millions in the greatest chase
scene ever filmed.

Limited Edition of 1000 Worldwide
During the late sixties, Carroll Shelby®
"pulled the trick of the year" by introducing the 1968
Shelby GT-500™ "King of the Road." Muscle Car enthusiasts

again! In 2008 he did it all over again, introducing the
2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR™ – the fastest production Mustang

staggering 540 horsepower and a bone-crushing 510 lb-ft of
torque.
Now, as a tribute to this incredible Muscle Car, Franklin
Mint Precision Models is proud to announce two
exclusive Limited Edition replicas to honor this historic
landmark car. Painted in two different factory-authentic
paint schemes, they are sure to find their way into the
hearts and display shelves of collectors. By acting now, you

1972 Corvette® LT-1 Convertible 1:24 Limited Edition 5000 |
|
|
|
A Must-Have for Serious Collectors!
For the knowledgeable Corvette®
enthusiast, this model falls into the Must Have
category. Model year '72 marked the end of an era for the
ultimate American sports car, as those distinctive front and
rear chrome bumpers made their last appearance. The age of
mirror-polished, bright metal bracelets which had been the
finishing touch of this elegant and aggressive Muscle Car
since its birth in 1953 would disappear from all factory
Corvette® autos built to date. The Corvette® chrome bling
would be replaced with a body color bumper in the front in
1973 and both front and rear by 1974. The 1972 Corvette® was
also the last year for the removable rear window on the
coupe and the legendary LT-1 solid-lifter, high-compression
engine option, making it a must-have Corvette® for any
serious car collector. The LT-1 engine designation would
reappear again 1992 as a new and improved base 350 engine,
much different from this '70s powerhouse. Although the
horsepower rating for the 1972 LT-1 would experience a
dramatic decrease from 330 hp in '71 to 255 hp in '72, she
maintained her sleek profile and elegant styling, even
adding for the first time on the LT-1 engine...air
conditioning! The number of 1972 LT-1-air cars built is
believed to be only 240.
This superb precision model sports a fully appointed
interior and the definitive re-creation of the V-8 OHV RPO
LT-1 engine under the hood. Working features include
operable steering, spinning road wheels and functional
suspension. Hard-top and soft-top included.
The Franklin Mint is pleased to offer this tribute to
Corvette® history with its 1:24 scale precision die-cast
1972 Corvette® LT-1 Convertible replica.

Shelby American offered eight color variations in the 427
S/C®s made and in all cases, dealers added racing stripes,
often at the customer's request. This car, CSX3042, is
regarded by many expert Cobra® collectors as one of the last
427 S/C®s sold, since it remained on the original dealer MSO
into the 1970s before being sold to a private buyer. The
CSX3042 is also regarded as one of the most original Cobras®
in existence, faithfully preserved and maintained by Cobra®
specialist, Ned Scudder. Today, this is the classic 427 S/C®
against which all others are measured. With its trim and
additional details that include the precisely styled
headlights, it is among the rarest, most desirable S/Cs
ever.
It is considered The Standard--the most perfectly restored
Shelby Cobra 427 S/C® in existence. To learn how it achieved
the very pinnacle of perfection, one must go back to the
beginning--back to the Sizzling Sixties and the emergence of
Carroll Shelby® as the world's leading practitioner of power
and indisputable sultan of style.
For the true roadster aficionado, nothing has ever been
built to compare to the Cobra®. Even to this day, the Shelby
Cobra® stands out. This limited production sports car
deserves its designation as an automotive classic because it
demands your full attention. It looks great; it sounds mean;
and it drives like a demon. In fact, it may well be the most
powerful, the most attractive, and the most thrilling
front-engine roadster ever manufactured for sale to the
public.

1965 Lambandi Mark II 1:24 Signed Limited Edition 1965 |
|
|
|
Automotive privateer Vic Lambandi began working on cars
shortly after high school graduation, developing hop-up kits
for the hot rod market, including the "Vic Force" intake
manifold and "Vic-Fire" exhaust systems. Between 1949 and
1955, Lamba Engineering developed race engines and race
cars. The most successful, the "Lamba Samba," broke four
speed records at Bonneville.
In 1955, a tragic shop fire killed two of Vic's childhood
friends, driver and chief mechanic Dan and Dave Baker. The
assets of Lamba Engineering were a total loss, including the
molds and prototype for a roadster, the Lambandi Mark I. Vic
was financially and personally devastated. Slowly, Vic
regained his confidence taking a job in the R&D division of
Douglas Aircraft. His technical achievements in lightweight
aluminum structures were significant, but the real magic was
happening in Vic"s garage. On February 28, 1962 Vic tested a
half scale Hypersonic Injection system, producing
astonishing horsepower and fuel efficiency. Armed with
newfound confidence Vic enlisted his old pals from Lamba
Engineering; Dick Donnelly - chief engineer, Bill Miller -
Machinist, and Ken Mann - Lawyer. They were back in
business.
Hypersonic Injection was not new, but no one had been able
to obtain continuous horsepower gain, due primarily to heat
problems. Vic's "Hyperjection," as it would become known,
could manage intense heat via helical gears. Vic called them
"Gearicols." Ken Mann secured the patent for Gearicols and
it remains today one of the most innovative engine systems
for fuel delivery. Royalty income from Gearicol and
Hyperjection systems enabled Vic to leave his job and devote
full-time energy to the Lambandi Mark II.
By now, sports cars were the new craze. Vic was determined
to find a suitable donor to test Hyperjection but attempts
to purchase a chassis proved frustrating. Miller and
Donnelly urged Vic to let them build their own frame.
Finally, Donnelly took matters into his own hands and
secretly began work. Miller assisted with machined parts and
kept Vic distracted. Two weeks later, Vic engaged recent Art
Center School graduate Tom Keller to design the body for the
Mark II.
Initial tests of the Hyperjected engines proved to be
challenging, but eventually a Ford 427 engine was tested
with results ranging from 570 to 630 hp. Unofficially, the
Mark II ran the quarter mile at 11.9 with 0-60 time of 4
seconds. Six Mark IIs were built in 1965 and 1966 - Vic's
prototype, three production-based sports cars, one
race-prepped roadster and one race-prepped Coupe (dubbed
"The Sonic"). Donnelly still owns his red roadster and
Miller sold his black roadster in 1979 to help finance his
own car project. Vic raced the coupe and roadster in
regional events until 1967, when Hyperjection was outlawed
on the sports car circuit. Vic went on to build Mark III and
IV prototypes in 1968 and 1970, but retired in 1985 and
spent his remaining years devoted to his second passion,
breeding Arabian horses. Vic Lambandi died in 2001 at his
horse ranch in the Santa Monica mountains. His wife and two
daughters maintain the ranch largely on income from renewed
patents and royalties.
The Franklin Mint 1:24 scale model of the 1965 Lambandi Mark
II is faithfully replicated down to the finest details and
has been re-created to scale by automotive historian and car
designer Raffi Minasian. Your precision model represents the
prototype roadster personally owned by Vic Lambandi. It is
the only roadster ever fitted with the 4-phase Hyperjection.
Vic used this car as his test bed for various engine
modifications as well as his personal car. Vic logged nearly
130,000 miles over a period of two decades before storing it
in his horse barn. The estate of Vic Lambandi sold the car
to a private collector who has generously allowed the car to
be replicated on condition of anonymity.

1957 Chevrolet® Bel Air® "Fuelie" 1:24 Limited Edition
2500 |
|
|
|
In 1957, most Bel Airs® were equipped with
factory-installed carburetors. Most, but not all. The
relative few fitted with Ramjet fuel injection went on to
become bona fide classics, coveted by discerning collectors
to this day. This incredible precision model sports all the
features that made the Fuelie a true legend of the Fabulous
Fifties—from the dual gun-sight hood ornaments and fully
detailed Super Turbo-Fire "283" V-8 engine to those iconic
tailfins. Hand-painted in Imperial Ivory and Dusk Pearl,
it's every inch a classic, just like the real car.
The year was 1957 and America was in love with the car. Main
Street, USA became a place for cruising. And no car on Main
Street turned more heads, or raised more eyebrows, than the
1957 Chevy® Bel Air®. Almost from the day production ceased,
it's been coveted not only as a Chevy® "classic," but as one
of the best examples of design and engineering in the
Fabulous Fifties.
The 1957 Bel Air® made significant advances to automotive
technology at the time, but the biggest auto news of all was
the introduction of the Ramjet fuel injection manufactured
by GM's Rochester carburetor division and developed by John
Dolza, E.A. Kehoe, Donald Stoltman and legendary Corvette®
chief engineer, Zora Arkus-Duntov.
The Ramjet Fuel Injection delivered several advantages:
increased power, instant accelerator response, faster cold
starts, smoother engine warm-ups and better overall fuel
economy. In standard trim, the 283 engine delivered 220 hp
but with the Super Turbo-Fire 283 V-8, a $550 option, it
produced an advertised 283 horsepower with the help of this
innovative injection system.
The '57 model also introduced an automatic transmission,
called Turboglide. With three turbines, this new system
delivered silky flow and power. And Turboglide, combined
with the Bel Air's® new 14-inch wheels filled at the lower
pressure of just 22 pounds, delivered a level of comfort
that drivers of the day quickly came to appreciate.
Technical advances aside, what many remember about the '57
Bel Air® is the look and presence of this significant car.
The front bumper with the aluminum grille screen and inset
parking lamps, the dual gunsight hood ornaments and the
unique rolled aluminum panels that formed the tail of a
lean, horizontal spear which swept the length of the car all
contributed to the dynamic design of the 1957 Chevy® Bel
Air®. The Bel Air® came in a dizzying array of colors, with
names like Canyon Coral, Matador Red and Sierra Gold. There
were 16 colors in all, plus fifteen distinct two-tone
combinations, such as this model in Imperial Ivory and Dusk
Pearl. And of course, there were the fins––the feature that
perhaps defined automotive design of the '50s.
You'll find each of these details
faithfully captured in your 1957 Chevrolet® Bel Air®
"Fuelie" Limited Edition–– the car that became a classic
the day it rolled off the assembly line.

1937 Cord 812 Phaeton Convertible 1:24 Limited Edition
1500 |
|
|
|
Legendary for its bold and distinctive
styling, the Cord 812 features technical innovations such as
front wheel drive, retractable headlamps and of course, the
supercharged V-8 engine. When Franklin Mint Precision Models
first released this model, none other than Gordon Buehrig
himself (the original designer) approved the master patterns
and finished production pieces. Now, this exclusive Limited
Edition die-cast replica honors this historic design in a
strictly limited run of just 1,500 pieces worldwide.
It has been called one of the most influential cars in
automotive history. The 1937 Cord 812 immediately turned
heads, combining innovation with performance that was both
exciting and proficient.
The Cord 812's history begins with the idea of designing a
mid-range Duesenberg that would sell between the company's
relatively affordable model and the exclusive Model J.
Headed by chief designer Gordon M. Buehrig, the "baby
Duesenberg" design never reached production because of an
economic disaster in the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg triumvirate.
After a few months, however, the Cord Corporation approved
the construction of a similar model and Buehrig was given
the opportunity of a lifetime - overall responsibility for
the design of an innovative automobile.
The innovations on Buehrig's model are legendary. To enhance
the interior room, a "step-down" passenger floor was
designed. Concealed headlamps, that were raised and lowered
by chrome-plate handcranks under the dash, predated similar
features on future sports cars. It placed the horn on the
steering wheel and put the handbrake under the dash. The
hubcap, with the twelve cooling holes around its perimeter,
covered the entire wheel. The Cord 812 was also available
with a supercharged Lycoming engine that was capable of
speeds up to 110 mph.
But of all the innovations, the Cord 812's front-wheel drive
format was the most remarkable. It was one of the world's
first cars with front-wheel drive to be mass produced.
However, it was looks more than innovation that made the
Cord 812 a great automobile - hinges were concealed to give
a streamlined look; running boards were scrapped as being
too "old-fashioned." The long "alligator" hood with louvered
grille and the aerodynamic "pontoon-type" fenders added to
the impression that this was a car ahead of its time.
Throughout the world, the Cord is regarded as a landmark in
automotive design. The New York Museum of Modern Art
selected the Cord as one of the eight finest examples of
industrial design and automotive art, an honor that reflects
the Cord's impact on automotive history.

Ford Model T Convertible 1:16 Limited Edition 1500 |
|
|
|
It's as if the word icon was coined
expressly for the Ford Model T. The car that put America on
wheels cuts a new path through history--in the form of a
spectacular precision model. It’s loaded with true-to-life
detail. The seats are upholstered with real leather; the
dash and firewall are adorned in wood veneer. As a final
touch, the radiator frame and cap, wheel hubs, headlights
and lamps bear the look of burnished brass.
By 1908, the American landscape had
changed. Slowly but steadily, horse-drawn carriages and
wagons made way for another kind of horse-powered vehicle,
as more and more automobiles appeared on the nation's roads.
By that same year, some 140,000 automobiles had been
registered in the U.S. There was no denying that the U.S.
was on the move. The only thing lacking: a motorcar the
average American could afford.
Enter Henry Ford, the visionary whose
Model T, or Tin Lizzie as it would eventually be called,
changed things forever.
In a production run lasting between 1908
and 1927, more than 15 million Model Ts were produced. In
the inaugural year of 1908, customers could choose models
painted red, gray or green. By the following year, blue had
been added to the Model T spectrum. The bulk of the historic
Model Ts appeared after 1913, for that was the year Ford
introduced the moving assembly line. In order to save
valuable time in his quest to produce as many Model Ts as
possible, Ford determined that each car be painted the same
color: black. However, it has been estimated that more than
30 different types of black paint were used for the myriad
number of parts that went into the assembly of a Model T.
Moreover, black was a more economical choice, enabling Ford
to keep the price of each model within reach of the average
wage earner.
With the introduction of the famous Ford
assembly line, every Model T was exactly the same, even down
to that basic black color. But perhaps a bit of Henry Ford's
feisty spirit lived in each of his Flivvers, as they were
sometimes called. For all its dependable ways, its
simplicity and superiority, the Model T had a certain
whimsy, an unpredictable side that often confounded its
owner. Yet in this respect, the car was almost human and
people tended to deal with its temperamental ways with a
sort of cherished affection.
Initially, use of the Model T was
restricted to pleasure driving. Sunday trips for places 25
miles distant could now be planned without buying train
tickets for the whole family. Relatives could stay in touch.
A fair or concert out of town was within reach. In this way,
the dependable little Model T did more than offer basic
transportation. It opened up horizons and forever changed
the way Americans .

Limited Edition pieces are automotive masterpieces.
Each precision replica is hand assembled from more than 175
separate components and each is packed with authentic
details that are the hallmarks of Franklin Mint Precision
Models, including the 275 horsepower 340 V-8, faithfully

In 1971, the writing was on the wall for
high horsepower engines. A looming fuel crisis, increased
insurance ratings and a change in styles brought the era of
raw performance to an end. The '71 'Cuda took one last gasp
at greatness and delivered with a full host of performance

The 340 engine was regarded by many as the best balance of
V-8 power without making the car overweight. A well-tuned,
340-powered 'Cuda could leap from the starting line in the
quartermile and nearly surpass the venerable Hemi®-powered
cars. On canyon roads, the 340 was a well-balanced,
all-round performance car.
The 1971 'Cuda was the top of the line but offered only
minor changes from the previous year. A new grille and
taillight treatment, as well as new interior patterns, were
just part of the changes in the model line. The most notable
features of the 1971 'Cuda were the addition of “fender
gills”, situated on the front fenders, and quad headlamps.
Although the 1971 'Cuda ended the Muscle Car era, it reigns
today as one of the most desirable and sought-after Muscle
Cars to drive the streets of America.

Task Force Trucks. That’s how the second series of trucks
from Chevrolet were introduced when they were introduced on
March 25, 1955. Among the new offerings in the series was
the sporty Cameo™ Pickup— a vehicle with truck toughness and
passenger car amenities and one which would be integral in
introducing the classic pickup truck to an ever-increasing
American suburbia.
In general, the new series of 1955 trucks offered a
sturdy-looking design: square lines and rounded corners. All
cab models had a wrap-around panoramic windshield and each
model was enhanced with new 12-volt electrical systems,
tubeless tires and V-8 engines. It was the Cameo™ Pickup,
however, that took the sturdy 1955 truck design and
incorporated the styling of automobiles to create a styling
trend that continues today.
Chevrolet engineers had dubbed the new vehicle “the
suburbanite pickup,” yet to the public it was popularly
called the Cameo™. It was a half-ton, high-stylized pickup
in the Chevrolet 3100 series and was given fiberglass
“skins” over the cargo box to give the rear sections a
contemporary look. The Cameo™ initially came only in Bombay
Ivory with Commercial Red trim, featured lots of chrome and
had red interior trim. But in 1956, the Cameo™ model was
offered in eight two-tone combinations. It still had hooded
headlights, forward-slanting pillars on the wrap-around
windshield, vertical taillights and a cleverly concealed
spare tire that was accessed by pulling down the
license-plate panel. Other changes in the 1956 model year
were the position of side chrome extensions, and
V-8-equipped trucks had a chromed V incorporated into the
bow-tie emblem.
Perhaps more important than its popularity was the crucial
role that Cameo™ played in the development of pickup truck
design. For its smooth-sided box and integrated fenders
created a look that influenced engineers and designers for
years to come—a look that today is a favorite among
knowledgeable collectors and automobile enthusiasts
everywhere.
Now, the historic 1956 Chevrolet® Cameo™ Pickup Truck is
re-created in an authorized, precision- engineered 1:24
scale replica, crafted in authentic detail by Franklin Mint
Precision Models. From the panoramic windshield to the
concealed spare tire…from the wooden cargo bed to the
powerful V-8 engine...your precision die-cast model is
crafted in meticulous and authentic detail. Steeped in the
history of American automotive design, the 1956 Chevrolet®
Cameo™ Pickup Truck Limited Edition is certain to be a
showpiece you will treasure for years to come.

2008 Ford Shelby GT-500KR™ Vista Blue w/Silver Racing
Strips
Limited Edition 1000 |
|
|
|
During the late sixties, Carroll Shelby® "pulled the trick
of the year" by introducing the 1968 Shelby GT-500™ "King of
the Road." Muscle Car enthusiasts thought they had seen it
all. Forty years later, he did it again! In 2008 he did it
all over again, introducing the 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR™ –
the fastest production Mustang to date! With its roots-type
supercharger, it produces a staggering 540 horsepower and a
bone-crushing 510 lb-ft of torque.
Now, as a tribute to this incredible Muscle Car, Franklin
Mint Precision Models is proud to announce two exclusive
Limited Edition replicas to honor this historic landmark
car. Painted in two different factory-authentic paint
schemes, they are sure to find their way into the hearts and
display shelves of collectors. By acting now, you can choose
one or both of the spectacular models – one painted Silver
with Blue Racing Stripes; and this one
painted Vista Blue with Silver Racing Stripes…the very same
options Shelby® offers right from the factory. Issued in a
worldwide Limited Edition of just 1,000 of each color, these
incredible models are sure to move quickly! The 2008 Ford
Shelby GT500KR™ was a brilliant collaboration between
Carroll Shelby®, Shelby Automobiles, SVT Engineering and
Ford Motor Company. The new "King of the Road" would not
disappoint its namesake. Rather, it far exceeded its
predecessor. The Roots-type supercharger and Ford Racing
cold air intake atop the 5.4 liter V-8 engine would produce
540 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. This benchmark
performance – coupled with features like front brake cooling
vents, a Ford Racing strut tower brace, race-tuned
suspension and luxury interior comforts – would move
Shelby/Mustang loyalists to crown a new King! The Franklin
Mint is proud to offer this 1:24 scale tribute to the
Shelby/Mustang monarchy.

Elvis Presley's® Pink Cadillac® |
|
|
|
|
|
Authenticity worthy of the King of Rock 'n
Roll!®
Back in the 1950s, nothing said "you have
arrived" like a brand-new Cadillac®. The 1955 Cadillac®
Fleetwood™ was regarded by many as the utmost in
automobiles. This luxury car combined the industry’s most
desirable features in a solidly built package. Surprisingly
easy to handle, the 1955 Fleetwood™ was one of the fastest
production cars on the highway. It was a rare thing of
beauty and an extraordinary social statement. Fully
equipped, the 1955 Cadillac® Fleetwood™ was a dream to drive
and one of the most expensive American cars on the highway.
For Elvis®, the Pink Cadillac® was the perfect symbol of
success - the epitome of Old World values personalized to
meet his view of a new frontier. His individualism and
self-invention not only produced great music, but also gave
rise to one of the greatest stories in American history.
Today, Elvis’® Pink Cadillac® resides at Graceland®, on
display for the many fans who visit the Presley® estate.
This inspiring automobile has become universally recognized.
It's a pleasant reminder of the 1950s and a kind memory of a
generous boy's devotion to his mama. And because it belonged
to the "King of Rock & Roll®," that Pink Cadillac® may well
be the most famous car anywhere in world.
Elvis Aaron Presley® was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo,
Mississippi. The year Elvis® was born, his dad, Vernon,
drove a truck for a grocery store and his mama, Gladys,
worked as a sewing machine operator. They were poor,
working-class people and as Elvis® grew older, he vowed that
one day he would get rich and buy his mama a Cadillac®.
When he was thirteen, Elvis® moved with his family to
Memphis, Tennessee. It was here that this shy but driven
teenager began to express himself. He chose clothes with
bold patterns and bright colors; he wore his hair long in
back and piled high in front; and he began to sing in talent
shows.
When Elvis® graduated from high school in
1953, he worked at a few odd jobs - in a factory and at a
warehouse. One day, just for fun, Elvis® decided to stop in
at the Memphis Recording Service where, for $4, he could
record a few songs on acetate and hear how he sounded. That
$4 investment would one day return some substantial
dividends.
His family never had a new car before he became a successful
performer. So, in 1955, when he began to make some serious
money, Elvis® bought a brand-new 1955 Cadillac® Fleetwood™.
He had the car painted pink and gave it to his mama,
although she didn't drive.
Crafted with more than 175 hand-assembled components, this
is the first-ever precision model of the custom pink Caddy
Elvis® bought for his beloved Mama - the 1955 Cadillac®
Fleetwood™. Includes a full complement of operating features
and a scale-size replica of Elvis'® favorite guitar, a
Martin D28.

1957 Corvette® Fuelie - Fiberglass Edition |
|
|
|
The only '57 Vette® model with genuine
fiberglass body! It's just like the real
thing! And you'll enjoy its many operable features--like
removing the convertible top, opening the center console and
engaging the fully functional suspension system. It took
more than 275 separate components to get everything right
including the twin exhaust pipes, real rubber tires and 283
Cid engine. The hand-painted scorching red body is
complemented by a shoreline beige interior.
Weighing only 2,880 pounds, the 1957 Corvette® "Fuelie" was
not the first car to be built with a fiberglass body, but it
was the first to come from one of the big automobile makers.
Perhaps this fiberglass flier’s biggest claim to fame was
the fact that it introduced one of General Motors®
Corporation’s most revered engines--the 283 cubic inch V-8.
When General Motors® modified this power plant with fuel
injection, the engine produced an unprecedented 283
horsepower--capable of going from 0-60 mph in under six
seconds. Additionally, it was the first car to combine fuel
injection with a 4-speed manual gearbox.
Aside from the lightweight design and mind-boggling
performance capabilities, the 1957 Corvette® was one of the
most handsome automobiles ever built. From its wrap-around
windshield to its two-toned paint job, this remarkable
roadster was a major milestone in the development of the
Corvette® legacy. This Franklin Mint Precision Model is an
authentic tribute to the vision, power and appeal of
Corvette® design and technology.
