Take the reins of the vehicle that settled the West
Before the transcontinental railroad and the automobile,
there was the overland stagecoach. Rattling through bad
lands fraught with danger, it connected the burgeoning towns
of the great frontier, delivering its cargoes of gold,
company payrolls, the mail, and the brave men and women who
settled the West. This precision-engineered scale model is a
fitting tribute to their tenacious spirit -- and to the
distinguished history of Wells Fargo. Rich with authentic
detail.
From the driver and "shotgun" seats to the spoked wheels and
realistic interior, this precision model is hand-assembled
from over 150 individual parts with genuine leather window
shades, vintage graphics and complete with scale-size
strongbox, shotguns & luggage.
Wells Fargo was established in San Francisco by Henry Wells
and William Fargo as a banking and express operation on
March 18, 1852. At the time, it was the peak of the
California Gold Rush, a period of fervid speculation,
investment, and fortune-seeking, and Wells Fargo offered
miners a rock of stability by offering a variety of
dependable banking and express services. Nine years after
its founding Wells Fargo operated the Pony Express between
Sacramento and Salt Lake City. What the Pony Express did for
mail, the Wells Fargo Overland Stagecoach did for
passengers, bringing thousands to the American frontier.
With the Pony Express and Stagecoach network, Wells Fargo
controlled the transportation and mail operations in the
United States, and established a network that extended over
3,000 miles in the West.
Now, the legendary Wells Fargo Overland Stagecoach is
re-created in an extraordinary precision-engineered replica
by Franklin Mint Precision Models, filled with a wealth of
authentic detail, graphics and design that is the benchmark
of Franklin Mint Precision Models.
